School Aims

The schools in the Exe Valley Federation will provide the best possible education for all our children, with each school working closely together in a supportive and collaborative manner.

We will encourage children to develop their cultural, social, moral and spiritual values within the safety of a sensitive and caring community that provides equal opportunities for everyone. At the same time, we will ensure that the distinctive ethos of each school is sustained and developed in accordance with tradition.

We will help all children develop to their full potential by providing an atmosphere of positive endeavour and by having high expectations that all children will make clear progress as matched against their personal best.

We will encourage self-reliance and independence so that our children can develop positive self-esteem together with the essential skills, knowledge, and understanding that they will need for lifelong learning.

The schools in the federation will provide an enriched curriculum with particular emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy, Science and Computing. We will work together to provide enhanced learning opportunities for children through the creative and expressive arts and provide challenge and enjoyment with a wide range of sports activities.

The schools in our federation will keep parents involved in their children’s education and work with them to meet their children’s needs and to find solutions to any educational or social problems as they arise.

Our children will be supported so that they can learn the value of positive actions and understand that good behaviour will bring its own rewards. We will celebrate personal achievements made by individuals and show respect for each other.

Our federation is committed to eliminating discrimination and providing equal opportunities for all irrespective of gender, race or disability. Any form of bullying will not be tolerated.

Please remember that we have an open door policy so don’t hesitate to speak with us immediately if you have any concerns about your child/children and school life.  We hope you find this letter useful as a reminder about the school aims and our aspirations for the coming year.

Kind Regards
