YEAR 6 REVISION PROGRAMME

22nd October 2015

Dear Parents and Guardians

YEAR 6 REVISION PROGRAMME

The children that are transferring to High School next September will be sitting their end of key stage SATS in English and Maths during the week commencing 9th May 2016. In preparation for these tests, we are starting our maths homework revision programme so that every child will be able to reach their full potential and experience success at their own level.

At school, we have a very positive outlook towards testing; children are not seen in competition with each other and they can accept that there are individual differences within their groups.  All that we ask is that everyone makes the effort to meet their own personal targets, and the children are usually very supportive of this, and enjoy taking up the challenge!

To help the children succeed, the year group will be asked to carry out set revision each week.  This will include “have a go” questions and quick tests (answers to which should be brought into school on Fridays each week).

Please see below for the weekly topics:

             W/C: OCTOBER   19th        NUMBERS – PATTERNS (P4 –7)

            W/C: OCTOBER    26th        CALCULATION     (P8-25)

            W/C: NOVEMBER   2nd        FRACTIONS , DECIMALS AND PERCENTAGES (P26– P37)

            W/C: NOVEMBER   9th          RATIO AND PROPORTION  (P38 – P45)

            W/C: NOVEMBER 16th        ALGEBRA   (P46 – P51)

            W/C  NOVEMBER 23rd         MEASURES  (P52 - P63)

           W/C  NOVEMBER 30th          GEOMETRY  (P64 – P69)

            W/C  DECEMBER   7th         STATISTICS (P70 – 71)

Please encourage your son/daughter to have the right attitude to this revision, and to dip into the relevant section little and often rather than all at one sitting.  You may like to help by “testing” them on summary questions and vocabulary definitions in particular.  Finally, do not hesitate to contact either of us if you have any concerns.  Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards
