Friends of Silverton School

The Friends of Silverton School (FoSS) includes parents, carers, teachers and friends of the school. FoSS organises fund raising, social activities and events like the Summer and Christmas Fairs, school discos, cake sales, Christmas cards and break the rules day.

Our aim is to fundraise to support both larger and smaller school projects and activities whilst bringing some enjoyment and fun to parents, staff and children.

Fundraising is a bit different at the moment with Covid-19, but we will still do all we can for the school whilst staying safe!

For more information or to find out about upcoming fundraising plans please join the Friends of Silverton School Facebook Page,  check out the noticeboard outside school and keep an eye out in the School newsletter.

FUNDS RAISED BENEFIT PUPILS

Each year we work hard to raise funds for school projects and trips. In the last year we have supported:

  • All classes taking part in the Aardman animation workshops in January
  • New furniture for Hawthorn class
  • A new PA system and microphones
  • Fruit for children in school during Covid-19 lockdown
  • Travel for Maple, Hawthorn and Oak classes to watch Beauty and the Beast pantomime
  • Travel for Acorns class to watch What the Ladybird Heard at the Northcott Theatre
  • Supported Maple class’s trip to Escot in February and Hawthorn’s trip to Coldharbour Mill
  • Breakfast for Oak class pupils taking part in Revision Club
  • A leavers festival for year 6 pupils, and leavers books.

JOIN THE FRIENDS OF SILVERTON SCHOOL

We meet on the first Thursday of each month (term time only) to discuss upcoming fundraising efforts, and new members and ideas are always welcome. Our upcoming meetings are:

  • Thursday 7th April 2022, 7.30pm at the Lamb Inn, Silverton
  • Thursday 5th May 2022, 7.30pm at the Lamb Inn, Silverton
  • Thursday 9th June 2022, 7.30pm at the Lamb Inn, Silverton

It doesn’t matter if you can’t help on a regular basis, any help at events or at other times during the year is so valuable – it really is a case of ‘many hands make light work’.

Our committee is made up of a group of parents with the elected postholders being:

  • Chair: Alex Marshall
  • Deputy Chair: Gemma Davies
  • Treasurer: Guy Busby
  • Secretary: PJ Wright

If you’re interested in joining, helping out at an upcoming event or have a fundraising idea to share we’d love to hear from you. Please contact silvertonadmin@exevalleyfederation.org.uk
